Rainy Weekend in August

 

a dark bedroom -  

suddenly wake to loud thunder  

rush to window view  


* * * * * 

 

sound of pouring rain  

city lights brighten puddles  

suddenly ... drums beat  

 

* * * * * 


garden flowers skirted  

in inch deep rainwater  

drought land drinks  


* * * * * 

 

so eloquently  

cardinal's song announces  

rain has stopped
