Sound. Mountain.

 

silent bedroom  

as poet hears the intro  

to her next book  


***  

metal shovel  

scrapes snow off the sidewalk  

neighbor's turn  


***  

 

a mountain of books  

for voracious readers  

lockdown escape  


***

 

"king of the mountain"  

shouts heard when they  

reached the top  



A game my nephews played at the nearby park. They climbed a nine foot pile of fallen tree branches assembled by the park maintenance staff. The goal was to beat their brothers to the top and maintain their leadership position. King of the Mountain!
