Remembrance

remembrance
a thousand poems from
one act of kindness

May 29, 2020 I wrote my first haiku poem thanking an anonymous person for leaving a bouquet of flowers on our front step. Her intention for this one act of kindness was to counterbalance the fear generated from the COVID lockdown and the riots that were occurring at multiple sites in Minneapolis after the death of George Floyd, which occurred two miles west of our home.

That haiku was the beginning of a life-changing experience I will never forget.
