After-Dinner

After-dinner conversations can be so enlightening.  This evening my husband asked,
“Guess: when do you think I became an artist?”

I answered, “When you were born.”

Smiling, he whispered a specific date “11-11-1996.”

The moments we spent together on top of the Guatemala pyramid were life-changing.

husband whispers
“I became an artist the day
I kissed you”

Knots in my Stomach

they are biting my ankles now
those unedited 2022 poems
loitering on my iNotes app

January 1st calendar page stares at me … bug-eyed
knowing hundreds more to come

knots in my stomach
